The International Technology and Engineering Educators Association (ITEEA) and state chapters (ours is VTEEA) selects the winners through an application and interview process. The winners are awarded a cash prize to help fund the trip the ITEEA conference to receive national recognition.

The ITEEA Program Excellence Award is one of the highest honors given to technology and engineering education programs at the elementary, middle, and high school levels. The Program Excellence Award is presented in recognition of outstanding contributions to the profession and students. The award is designed to recognize superior K-12 technology and engineering education programs from around the world. These award-winning programs serve as standards for comparison, models for the development of other programs, and reflect contemporary technology engineering education.
